Multitrait least squares for quantitative trait loci detection.

چکیده
A multiple-trait QTL mapping method using least squares is described. It is presented as an extension of a single-trait method for use with three-generation, outbred pedigrees. The multiple-trait framework allows formal testing of whether the same QTL affects more than one trait (i.e., a pleiotropic QTL) or whether more than one linked QTL are segregating. Several approaches to the testing procedure are presented and their suitability discussed. The performance of the method is investigated by simulation. As previously found, multitrait analyses increase the power to detect a pleiotropic QTL and the precision of its location estimate. With enough information, discrimination between alternative genetic models is possible.

Quantitative Trait Loci in Brassica rapa
This paper briefly examines current methodology for developing genetic linkage maps and using them to find loci for quantitative traits (QTL). Maximum likelihood interval mapping is viewed as an extension of classical least squares methods when the trait of interest is normally distributed and located near a genetic marker. Some problems in finding multiple loci for a quantitative trait are exa...
متن کاملDetection of quantitative trait loci affecting lameness and leg conformation traits in Danish Holstein cattle.
Lameness is an important factor for culling animals. Strong legs and feet improve herd life of dairy cows. Therefore, many countries include leg and feet conformation traits in their breeding programs, often as early predictors of longevity. However, few countries directly measure lameness related traits to include these in a breeding program. Lameness indices in 3 different lactations and 5 le...
متن کاملIteratively reweighted LASSO for mapping multiple quantitative trait loci
The iteratively reweighted least square (IRLS) method is mostly identical to maximum likelihood (ML) method in terms of parameter estimation and power of quantitative trait locus (QTL) detection. But the IRLS is greatly superior to ML in terms of computing speed and the robustness of parameter estimation. In conjunction with the priors of parameters, ML can analyze multiple QTL model based on B...
متن کاملSelecting Informative Traits for Multivariate Quantitative Trait Locus Mapping Helps to Gain Optimal Power
A major consideration in multitrait analysis is which traits should be jointly analyzed. As a common strategy, multitrait analysis is performed either on pairs of traits or on all of traits. To fully exploit the power of multitrait analysis, we propose variable selection to choose a subset of informative traits for multitrait quantitative trait locus (QTL) mapping. The proposed method is very u...
متن کاملExpression quantitative trait loci mapping with multivariate sparse partial least squares regression.
Expression quantitative trait loci (eQTL) mapping concerns finding genomic variation to elucidate variation of expression traits. This problem poses significant challenges due to high dimensionality of both the gene expression and the genomic marker data. We propose a multivariate response regression approach with simultaneous variable selection and dimension reduction for the eQTL mapping prob...
